Before & After - Susan's desk chair

Posted July 28, 2011

Good morning, Beautiful!

Somebody told me yesterday that they wished I would share more Before & After shots of the many things we redesign. And I realized when they said this that I haven’t done one of these posts in a loooooong time. So, here’s our most recent redesigned element – in the form of Before & After shots!

One of our “pickers”, Tony, brought us this chair about a month ago. Boy, was this baby tired! Whatever cat loved this chair, REALLY loved this chair. It was a scratching post!
Anyways, when Tony saw the lines of it, he thought we might like to do something with it so he brought it by. So glad he did!

And then very soon after, we were talking with one of our clients, Susan, about what chair would sit behind the desk we were having designed for her Master Bedroom, and…well, this happened! It’s so very…Susan!

Just a tad different from when we started.

One Year! One Big Party!

Posted July 20, 2011

The photo above is of some of our friends helping us remove the paper from the front windows of Hazel Tree Interiors the day before we opened, just about a year ago.

Good morning!

It’s Wednesday! Which means that in two days we’ll be celebrating the One-Year Anniversary of Hazel Tree Interiors!
Wow. Time flies when you’re having fun!

Here are the details in case you’d like to join us:

This Friday, 7/22, 5-9pm at Hazel Tree Interiors. Food, drink, fun, lots of local art for sale!

As I think back on the year, and the months leading up to the opening of the studio, I get all misty-eyed and my heart just kind of bursts with gratitude for all the people who helped us get this baby off the ground.

As we celebrate our first year in business, we are again surrounded by the same awesome people, helping us throw another party.

That’s Kelly Tighe, Mural Master Extraordinaire! In addition to painting the exterior mural in the week+ leading up to the opening, he helped us in other countless ways. I love this photo of him. We spent many, many hours situating the opening look of the showroom with Kelly’s help and input…I snapped this photo of him once it was complete and we had a chance to just sit back and take in what we had just created together.

And here’s his mural!

While we were on vacation, I got a phone call from Kelly and all he said when I picked up the phone was, “So…I was thinking. You wouldn’t need help throwing that big anniversary party, would you??”

To which I promptly said, “Yes! We simply cannot throw this party without your help!”

So Kelly, who lives Jersey, is traveling back to Akron to celebrate with us Friday night. We are so excited.

Another source of constant support? (Especially around party times!)
My mom and Aunt Ruth and The Village and a handful of other great friends…all of whom readily agreed to help with the party in whatever needed way. They’re making food, preparing the party favors and loaning us random necessary items. Many thanks for helping us yet again!

So, today I just wanted to take this moment and internet space to let you know about the party if you didn’t already, and to say thanks to the people who will help throw another huge party at Hazel Tree Friday night.

We hope to see you there!

xoxo, Karen
