Art Auction to Benefit 'Bring Eli Home'

Posted October 14, 2011

In September of 2010, I wrote a blog post about a local woman named Sara Edwards who was in the fight of her life to regain custody of her son, Eli, who was the victim of international parental kidnapping. (If you’d like to read that post to learn about her story, you can click here.)

All this time later and Sara is still in the legal battle to get her son back.

Jon and I are trying to help her in any way we can. So, next month on Saturday, November 5, from 7-10pm, we are hosting an art auction benefit for her at Hazel Tree Interiors. Here are the details…

For more information on the benefit and for more of their story, visit: www.bringelihome.com

Please consider joining the local art community on November 5th for an evening out filled with music and fun!

Light-Up Lantern Festival 2011 is this Saturday, 10/8!

Posted October 5, 2011

Good morning! If any of you NEOans are looking for something cool to do this Saturday, there’s a wonderful arts and community festival down in University Park that is free to the public and a heck of a good time.

I love a festival…especially one as magical and theatrical and awesomely- illuminated as this one:

The 3rd annual Light-Up Lantern Festival, themed “Storybooks”, takes place this Saturday, 10/8, from 6-10pm! The event curls through the areas near Akron U on Crouse St and around…with the heart of it happening out in the streets in front of Don Drumm Studios. (Directions/address, click here.)

My friends, Leandra Drumm and her partner in shine, Dan Coffield, are the two artist/magic-makers that dreamt up and created this festival, which is done through University Park Business Alliance.

Leandra, Dan, their families and friends, and a huge helping of other creative volunteers have been working the entire year on bringing you an awesome third annual festival. I am happy to see that the weather forecast looks perfect for that day!

Hope to see you there! (Although you probably won’t recognize me…)
