We are very excited to participate in the 2013 Junior League of Akron Designer Showhouse!
We are redesigning two spaces for this year's fund raising event: the Master Hallway and the "His" Master Bath.
And we're doing it true to our Hazel Tree roots...Showing you what is possible with just paint and local art!
We've teamed up with painting company, The Final Coat, to bring simple yet stunning change to those spaces in this big, beautiful Akron estate.
We'll also incorporate artwork and design ideas made in-house by the Hazel Tree team, as well as pieces from local artists who sell their work at Hazel Tree.
Want to learn a bit about the event and the home? From the Junior League's website:
"The Gaffney Home, located at 657 Ridgecrest Road in Akron, will be the site of Akron’s premier design event taking place Saturday, May 4 through Sunday, May 19, 2013. This special event provides an opportunity for the Junior League of Akron to showcase the area’s most spectacular design talent while raising funds to support philanthropic projects that improve the lives of residents in our community.
Located in one of Akron’s finest neighborhoods near the stately Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens, the Gaffney estate sits among Akron’s finest properties. The three-story Tudor Revival home was built in 1933 with much of the architectural-influence originating from the surrounding country estates built during that era. The home is an exquisite blend of classic 20th century style with modern-day elements."
It is clear that the 6,713 square foot residence with its 15 spacious rooms was built for entertaining. The elegant floor plan features six bedrooms, five full and two half baths, five fireplaces and a three-car garage. Special features of the home include a first floor master wing with separate his and hers baths and dressing rooms; a guest suite with a private stairway; an opulently finished office with a built-in wet bar and a hardwood spiral staircase which leads to a finished basement. The landscape of the home boasts lovely gardens with a terrace overlooking the private wooded lot."
In addition to the tours of the home, they have a special event planned for the Opening Night, called "Gatsby in the Garden".
It is sure to be a lovely evening event, held both inside and outside of the estate. You should consider coming! Details and tickets for the April 27 opening night event are available by clicking here.
All of the time, talent and materials for the home's design overhaul is donated by local designers and businesses like us. All of the effort raises money for the Junior League of Akron - who in turn does a lot of good with programs in our community!
So, I hope to see you...either in the garden on opening night, or on the regular tour when it opens in May!
