Temporary, but fun!

Posted January 29, 2014

Back when I was the Producer for the Carousel Dinner Theatre (my career was in theatre before I transitioned into interior design), we did a production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. That winter, I had the idea to spray the grassy parking lot curb sections with swirly rainbow colors so the guests would see them as they walked into the theatre. Well...I never did get to do it, as the weather didn't cooperate by giving us the right snow pattern after that (which was: enough snow and then a day or two without it melting or without a bunch more falling on top of it!)

Jump to over a decade later....after our first snow a couple of months ago, I remembered that idea when pulling up to Hazel Tree one morning. Today, I finally did that idea from way back when! (I only got through three colors though, because dang, it was cold out there!)

I don't know how long it will last, but I hope people enjoy it as they drive down Market Street.

Local Lenses - Photography show at Hazel Tree, February 28 - March 28

Posted January 4, 2014

In December, I posted the following on our Facebook page:

"So I have wanted to host a photography show at Hazel Tree for a very long time now. I am happy to say that it is finally time!
(Happy dance!!)

In February, when it is cold and icky outside and we are in the homestretch of winter, we are going to have an opening here that goes a little something like this:
Walls lined with excellent local photography and people eating various types of soup.

Sound good? If so, would you please spread the word to your photographer friends and your photography-loving friends?"

Well, the date is set and we are beginning to accept submissions from some incredible local photographers. Here are the details of the event opening and the month-long show:

"Local Lenses", a photography show, will be held at Hazel Tree Interiors from 2/28/14-3/28/14. The show opening will be held during February's Last Friday Happy Hour, when we will extend the hours of the monthly gathering from 4-9pm. Photographs will be on display for sale in the gallery all month. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Friday, 11:00-5:30 and Saturday, 11:00-3:00.

Photographers interested in submitting photographs for consideration should email for more information.

Now, you may be wondering to yourselves, "Will there be soup at the opening like she said?"

To which I answer, "Oh, yes. Yes, there will be!"

See you then!
